CHIMARRÃO

The name “Chimarrão” originates from an ancient tradition of the Gaúcho culture. Inherited from indigenous peoples, such as the Guarani, this hot beverage, made from yerba mate, is served in a curious container called a “cuia” and sipped through a straw that filters the herb.

Tradition has it that chimarrão is meant to be shared in a moment of relaxation, in a ritual called “Roda de Mate” (Mate Circle).

This sharing circle inspired the traditional Brazilian “Rodízio,” where delicious cuts of meat rotate among all diners.
